Scholarships for Dinwiddie High School Seniors

Congratulations to our 2021 Scholarship Winner

The chamber was so pleased to award Madeline Lucy, a Dinwiddie County High School senior, with this year’s chamber scholarship. She is receiving $1000 to aid in her future educational costs. The exciting news is that Ms. Lucy has also received $1000 from another Dinwiddie Chamber member- Southside Electric Cooperative! We all wish her great success in her college career at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Madeline tells us, “These scholarships enable me to continue my education at a quality institution and fulfill my dreams of a successful future.” She plans to major in Digital Communication and Media Studies.

Without proper education and workforce development our businesses would struggle to stay on the cutting edge. The Dinwiddie County Chamber of Commerce diligently strives to meet the needs of it’s business future through partnerships with the Dinwiddie County Public School system, Crater Workforce Development and many other smaller partnerships that provide sound work ethics, soft skills and future development of the workforce needed now and in the future.

Without funding, some bright young students would not attend college or technical schools after graduation. If you would like to contribute to this fund, donate at the link below so we can continue offering scholarships to our young people.

Working with the Education Task Force, members have been involved with events like the annual Health Fair, as well as combining talents to fill gaps wherever needed for our students and their varying educational needs.

Skilled labor needs are ever changing. This Team also works with the Career and Technical Education Board to voice where Dinwiddie County may have gaps in their training and to provide arenas for students to put their learned skills to work at local businesses. Chamber members are made aware of what need arises and where they can benefit as much as the student and possible future employee.

Partnering with business, government, schools and community, Dinwiddie County Chamber of Commerce makes Dinwiddie County a great place to live, work, play, visit, invest and learn!
